Tonya On… Hello. Thanks for Tuning In.

Ever since my dear friend Winy started her great Substack, I've been inspired to create my own. Back in the early days of the internet, I always had online diaries—ALWAYS. We're talking blogs going back to the late 1990s, which I kept going in various forms for years. Don't get me wrong, they were “special”, but they were also fun to write, and I miss that.
What I truly miss and have been searching for are creative inputs that lead to creative outputs. I think, unknowingly, I've been trying to recover some of my lost creativity. I remember spending a few hours alone at the Art Gallery of Ontario a year or two ago, just taking in all the art. It felt incredible to be surrounded by so much creativity. That experience reignited a spark in me—I wanted to create. I took a dance class, a pottery class, and explored different artistic outlets.
For months, I toyed with the idea of what my focus should be—what I wanted to write about. I felt stuck. I wanted a space to capture my thoughts, but I didn’t want it to feel too random since my mind tends to go in a million different directions.
Then, during a session with Myleik, everything clicked. She asked me two simple but profound questions:
What did you love to do as a child?
Does some of that still live in you?
The answer was obvious. I've always loved writing. I wrote blogs, contributed to my school newspaper, majored in journalism in undergrad, and even had a food blog for years. Writing was, quite literally, on the walls for me.
So here I am—writing… and not overthinking about it.
What can you expect from “Tonya On…”? A little bit of everything. Tonya On… How I prioritize and build rest and ease into my life. Tonya On…How I’m leveraging AI in different aspects of my day. Tonya On… Travel. Tonya On… What’s happening in the world. Tonya On… Where I’m finding joy.
Like I said, a bit of everything.
Thanks for joining me. Let’s ride.
